Airport Transfers

- Get SIM card at airport for data
- Exit terminal and wait in designated pickup area
- Driver will call/message you
Pros: Fixed pricing, safe, convenient
Cons: Need data/SIM card
2. Uber

3. Prepaid Airport Taxi

Cost: ~LKR 3,000-4,000 to Negombo, ~LKR 4,500-5,500 to Colombo
Pros: Easy, no haggling
Cons: More expensive than apps
4. Regular Taxi (Negotiate)

5. Bus

Route: Buses run along main road (walk 10 min from terminal)

Cons: Inconvenient with luggage, infrequent, language barrier

Common Tuk-Tuk Scams

Booking Train Tickets

At Station: Day before or day of travel (3rd class always available)
Through Hotels: Many guesthouses can book for small fee
Classes:

- 3rd class: Unreserved, crowded, authentic experience
Cheap & Extensive Network

Tips for Bus Travel

- Pay conductor after boarding
- Crowded during rush hours
- Keep luggage with you (no overhead storage on many)
- Google Maps shows bus routes (mostly accurate)
Best For: Budget travelers, short distances, cultural immersion

Private Drivers & Car Rentals

Self-Drive Car Rental
